  • Film entitled: Four Deaf Yorkshiremen

I enjoyed watching this film because it is very funny. The film is about deaf men who challenge each other to tell their worst stories. I never thought of the ending, and I laughed out loud at the ending. I like the ending. The plot is excellent. This short film is 10 minutes long.

I bought the special edition DVD “Four Deaf Yorkshiremen” includes extra features, and I also got the two glossy photos of the “Four Deaf Yorkshiremen.”

You can buy the DVD, and see “Four Deaf Yorkshiremen” in full quality, just contact Charlie Swinbourne at director.charlie@googlemail.com for more information! The DVD sale is raising money for the second film “The Return of the Four Deaf Yorkshiremen.”

I’m looking forward to watch the second film.

Cast: John Smith, Ilan Dwek, Matthew Kirby, Jonathan Reid

    Director: Charlie Swinbourne

    Producer: Charlie Swinbourne

    Screenplay: Charlie Swinbourne

    Studio: Remark Production

    Genre: Comedy

  • Deaf character in the movie “After Image”

I bought and watched the DVD “After Image,” because I was curious to watch the deaf actress was acting in the film.  It was Terrylene.  She has appeared on television’s “Beauty and the Beast” and on-screen in “Natural Born Killers.”  Terrylene and John Mellencamp (hearing actor) communicated through American Sign Language in any conversation in this film.  I think the plot of the movie “After Image” was not bad!

DVD Release Date: August 2, 2005

Cast: John Mellencamp, Terrylene, Louise Fletcher

    Director: Robert Manganelli

    Producer(s): Arnold Rifkin, Robert Sturm

    Screenplay: Robert Manganelli, Tony Schillaci

    Studio: Miramax Home Entertainment

    Genre: Thriller

MPAA Rating: R for violent images, nudity and some language.

Synopsis: In this shocking thriller, psychic (Laura Terrylene) falls in love with an alluring crime photographer (John Mellencamp). Soon, the pair find themselves in a dangerous hunt for a crazed killer! Will Laura's extrasensory abilities help them to save themselves and the imminent victims, or will the risk to their lives prove to be too great?

  • Poem entitled: Farewell to My Friend

I wrote this poem that was 2 years ago, and I decided to dedicate this blog to Keri Wilson.  She was leaving Austin to her hometown Houston due to her new job!

    Farewell to My Friend

    Farewell, farewell my friend
    Remember all the good times
    Such happy times together
    Oh how much the joy!

    Farewell, farewell my friend
    Remember even the bad times
    We were sad together
No matter how great the pain!

    Farewell, farewell my friend
    Remember all the good times
    We laughed together
    Oh how much fun!

    Farewell, farewell my friend
    Remember even the bad times
    We did argue together
    No matter how many mistakes!

    Farewell, farewell my friend
Remember both of good and bad times
    We do share memories
Hope we never forget our past!

    Farewell, farewell my friend
    What else can I say?
I cannot believe it's time to go
I know deep in my heart we'll see each other again!

  • Coming Out as a Deaf Person

This film is hilarious because in the first 30 seconds it looks like he’s about to come out as gay.  The parallels between being Deaf and being gay are so similar.  There are many parents don't want to accept that their child is gay and there are many parents who do not want to accept that their child is Deaf.  This short film is 6 1/2 minutes long.  The plot is brilliant.

Cast: David Hay, Debbie Norman, Ilan Dwek

    Director: Louis Neethling

    Producer: Alison Lynch

    Screenplay: Charlie Swinbourne

    Studio: AC2.com Productions Ltd

    Genre: Comedy

Language: British Sign Language and English, with English subtitles

    MPAA Rating: Not Rated

Synopsis: Quirky comedy about deaf identity - a deaf teenager reveals a personal secret to his hearing mother. Why does he have 'dirty' magazines and videos hidden in his room? What will his father say when he finds out? The unexpected revelations question whether family life will ever be the same again.

  • Poem entitled: "Why LIAR does that?"

I found an old poem from the file.  I wrote this poem that was 5 years ago.

    Why LIAR does that?

    LIAR covers his mistakes up
    LIAR cannot admit his mistakes
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to lie all the time

    LIAR refuses to be honest
    LIAR cannot be honest
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to lie all the time

    LIAR hides his dark secrets
LIAR cannot deal with his dark secrets
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to lie all the time

    LIAR creates false rumors
LIAR cannot live without the false rumors
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to lie all the time

    LIAR hides his bad reputation
LIAR cannot clean up his bad reputation up
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to be lie all the time

    LIAR destroys a fact
    LIAR cannot accept the fact
    Why LIAR does that
LIAR tends to be lie all the time

LIAR loves to lie about everything
    LIAR cannot change his habit
LIAR knows why he does that

  • The Legend of Frankie Wilde the Deaf DJ

I rented the DVD "Its All Gone Pete Tong", because Deaf Artist Chuck Baird recommended me to watch this film. This movie is about the Deaf DJ Frankie Wilde. Chuck told me that Paul Kaye is the good actor who acted the greatest role of Frankie Wilde in the film, and Paul Kaye is hearing.

    Official Site: http://www.itsallgonepetetong.com

DVD Release Date: September 20, 2005

Cast: Paul Kaye, Beatriz Batarda, Kate Magowan, Mike Wilmot

    Director: Michael Dowse

    Producer(s): Allan Niblo, James Richardson

    Screenplay: Michael Dowse

    Studio: Sony Pictures

    Genre: Comedy / Drama

MPAA Rating: Rated R for pervasive drug and alcohol abuse, language and some sexual content/nudity.

Synopsis: Frankie was one of Europes most talented and envied DJs and a main attraction for hedonistic youth each holiday season in Ibiza, Spain.  Everything about Frankies life was over the top: the clubs, the parties, the women and the drugs.  But the years of pounding music and heavy toxins took their toll, eventually leaving Frankie stone deaf.  His fans, record deal, manager, wife and stepson soon disappeared.  The good times gone, Frankie isolated himself in his villa for a year under a pile of self-pity and a mountain of drugs.  Determined to pull himself together, Frankie hired a lip-reading instructor, accepting a new way of life and rediscovering the dance rhythms that had defined him.  His ultimate redemption returned him to the top of the scene with a renewed connection to the almighty beat. And then he disappeared.

  • New Political Cartoon by Tony McGregor

If Francisco de Goya (1746–1828) was alive, this is how he would view the Gallaudet situation: Unity for Gallaudet.

This is an imitation of Goya's work. Tony L. McGregor did a similar drawing in reaction to French occupation of Spain in the early 19th century. Goya himself is deaf as well.
